Superstar Scoring Era

The era after 2000 is known as the era of scoring with some incredible players having incredible careers and of course scoring being at an all-time high. The 2023 NBA season has been a very fun and exciting one especially with all of the magnificent players putting up incredible stat lines and performances. Some of the best include:

  • Donovan Mitchell against the Bulls, 71 Points, 11 Assists, and 8 Rebounds
      • As a Cavs fan, this game was one of the most exciting games I have ever watched. Mitchell could not miss and single-handedly brought his team back forcing overtime with a buzzer-beater layup. This performance was incredible not just because it is the closest that anyone has got to Kobe’s 81-point game, but also because it was almost a 71 triple-double.
  • Lebron James against the Hawks, 47 Points, 9 Assists, and 10 Rebounds
      • The stat line alone is amazing but another factor that adds to the game is that this line was put up by a 38-year-old Lebron on his birthday. This near 47-point triple-double would have made Lebron the oldest player ever to record a 40+ point triple-double, he already appears 3 times within the top 7.
  • Nikola Jokic against the Hornets, 47 Points, 10 Assists, and 27 Rebounds
      • Some of these games that Jokic have put out look like a typo based on how incredible they are. 47 points by a center shows dominance, 10 assists shows a team player and an amazing passer as a big man, and 27 rebounds is a stat that you would expect from a freak athlete like Wilt Chamberlain. This game along with the others where he puts up a triple-double is why he won two MVPs and was an early front-runner in this year’s MVP race.
  • Klay Thompson against the Hawks, 54 Points, 8 Rebounds, 10 3-pointers
    • We have been blessed to have one of these games from Klay Thompson at least once a year. This one was special because this was one of his biggest games since his return from his knee injury, this game helped to prove that Klay was still extremely dominant. 10 3 pointers is incredible but we are used to this from Thompson since he has 3 places in the Top 6 for most 3-pointers made in a game.
