Figuring Out Finals

Figuring+Out+Finals

As finals week is approaching May 21 through May 23, OLHS students need to come prepared, knowing the rules and schedule of that week leading up to summer.

The final exam days are considered attendance days which means students are expected to come. Every day they will have 3 periods of exams. So on Tuesday May 21, students will have testing for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd period. The second day Wednesday May 22, people that have 4/5 or 5/6, 6/7 or 7/8, 8/9 or 9/10 periods have the exam and on the last day Thursday May 23,  period 11 and 12 are the exams that students will have.

Students do not have to arrive at school until their first scheduled exam period of the day. OLHS students are also not permitted to attend the first exam period, leave during the middle exam period, and return for the final exam period. If they have a break in between exams,  they must stay. There will be make-up times if students are not able to attend an exam, which is from 10:40 – 12:30 on May 23.

There will also be transportation to and from school but if students are arriving late or leaving early then they need to have their own form of transportation. As always, breakfast and lunch will be provided to students.

An exam can only be moved with administration approval. Students in an AP class or have an OST that year are exempted for that exam.

Senior classes can be exempted from finals if they have a B- as an overall grade for the year or have an A in the 3rd quarter. The final exams that they can be exempted from include English, science, math, world language, and government. Although finals week can be tough, knowing the rules and the schedule of the week may make testing a bit less stressful.
