This past month, Olentangy Liberty track had their yearly OCC meets at Upper Arlington and Big Walnut. These meets kicked off the post-season and allowed varsity runners to advance into Regionals or even States. For each open event, the top two runners participated. In the relays, the coaches put together a high performing team based on a multitude of factors.

The distance team ran in the 4×800 meters, 800 meters, 1600 meters and 3200 meters on Wednesday May 10th. Freshman Becca Henry ran in the 1600 meter race.

“It was super fun to run this past week because I have been working all season to run in this invite,” said Henry.

Junior Sophie Sampson also attended this meet, but for the sprinters team. She ran in the 100 meters, 200 meters, 4×100 meters and 4×200 meters. “I think this year we have a real shot at getting into states. This year we have started to become more serious as a team, especially the junior class, and with an indoor and outdoor qualifier title on our backs, I think it is going to help us succeed and push ourselves to take the Winning Titles this year,” Sampson said.

Half of the field events attended on Wednesday the 10th, the other half did these events on Saturday the 13th. The different field events that attended were discus, long jump, high jump, pole vault and shot put. Sophomore Maria Stack threw the discus this past Wednesday.

“It was really exciting to throw at occs because there was a lot of competition there to push me. I just started throwing earlier this year so I’m super glad I was able to get some points for the team,” said Stack.
