On March 31st, 2023, Tyler the Creator released CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST: The Estate Sale. The Estate Sale is the deluxe edition of Tyler’s album from two years ago. This new expansion includes all the songs from his 2021 album and now an additional eight new songs that were removed from final production.

The Estate Sale is the first “deluxe” album Tyler has ever dropped during his twelve-year career. This expanded edition features great songs that did not make the cut of Tyler’s most recent album, and fans of his are sure to enjoy this new music he has released.

EVERYTHING MUST GO– The deluxe begins with a short skit from Tyler featuring DJ Drama. DJ Drama helped Tyler produce most of the tracks on CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST (CMIYGL) and did most of the hooks for each song. Even though it is a short skit, it is cool because it shows a turning point between his 2021 album and these new songs. Tyler references his CMIYGL tour and the Grammy he received for the album while thanking his fans for listening to his music. The iconic bell jingle from CMIYGL plays throughout this track, and this skit serves as a nice segway into the deluxe edition.

STUNTMAN– The second new song on the deluxe is STUNTMAN. This song features Vince Staples, who is a longtime friend of Tyler’s and is one of the artists who toured with Tyler during his CMIYGL tour in 2021 and 2022. Stuntman is an egotistical and energetic song about Tyler and Staples bragging about their wealth, fame, and arrogance. This song puts Tyler’s ego on full blast, and the repetition of the line “Show you how to stunt ”is Tyler and Staples’s way of flexing on others and that they can teach them how to be as cool as they are and “stunt”.

WHAT A DAY– Produced by legendary producer Madlib, WHAT A DAY feels like a calm and mellow walk through the park. Madlib’s laid-back beat and moody instrumental work perfectly with the message and lyrics that dive deeper into his emotions and feelings. Tyler sings about his work, his past, and how he wants praise and attention from people even though he has antisocial tendencies.

WHARF TALKWHARF TALK is great for many reasons and is one of the best songs on this expanded album. We get a new track that brings the legendary duo of Tyler and A$AP Rocky back together. In the song, Tyler is in love with a woman he does everything for. However, she does not want to commit to being with him for the rest of her life. This song fits the same dreamy and warm summer vibe that CMIYGL is all about.

DOGTOOTHDOGTOOTH originally came out as a single and was the first song Tyler released to tease this deluxe release. This song is similar to Stuntman because they both have glamorous beats tied with one-line zingers about how he has set himself above his competition. The line, “I’m tryna buy my neighbor’s house and turn it to a yard”, is a perfect example of this concept.

HEAVEN TO ME– Similar to WHAT A DAY, HEAVEN TO ME was produced by more legendary producers, Ye West and John Legend.    Despite the very aggressive energy that Tyler has put out, this track is a refreshing new take because it is about an idyllic future in which Tyler has a family and a lasting relationship with a significant other. The instrumental by Ye and John Legend is blissful, and the guitar riffs and “heaven only knows” repetition works great as the background for this track.

BOYFRIEND, GIRLFRIEND (2020 Demo)– This song is an interesting addition and an oddity in the deluxe pack because it is a demo. The beat is a little rough, but for it being a demo track it works out, especially because the YG feature on this song is hype and elevational. It is an interesting choice by Tyler to leave this demo in the deluxe, but the track is groovy and the YG feature is refreshing.

SORRY NOT SORRY– The final track on this album is a defining finish and is a very accurate portrait of Tyler’s character. This song was the second of the two teasers released leading up to the album, and it also features a very well-filmed music video. This song is about Tyler lamenting and speaking from his older eras when he released his albums. All of Tyler’s characters return from each album to apologize in their own unique way, and it is a nice leading-off point for whatever Tyler decides to do next.

The Estate Sale is a successful deluxe album, and, astonishingly, Tyler’s leftovers from his most recent album are better than many other artists’ core pieces. The eight songs added to the album have individuality and great production. Tyler once again has blessed his fans with great music, and this deluxe album will have many streams throughout the coming weeks.
