A new take out restaurant has recently opened in the Powell area 2 weeks ago. Yoshi is an Asian fusion restaurant that has a variety of all types of dishes. Ranging from sushi, Chinese food, Thai food, Hibachi, Bubble tea, and more. Yoshi is a franchise that is also open in the Ohio State University Campus with a sit in spot, however the Powell location is not open for sit ins. We ordered 3 main dishes. The Orange chicken, Lo Mein, and the Fried Rice with a side of Taro Milk Tea and the Black Sugar Milk Black Tea.
The Fried rice was very good but a little bit dry. We got it without onions and the ratio of vegetables to rice was very nice. We wish they had options for chicken fried rice and it came with some type of sauce like Yum Yum sauce because it could use just a little bit of more flavor. The texture and warmth gave the rice a nice dish to eat in combining flavors with the Orange Chicken. We would rate it a solid 6.5/10.
The orange chicken was so good and the portion size was very good. We split it between two people and still had leftovers to take home. The sauce was very flavorful and it was coated the perfect amount, it’s a combination of a sour and sweet tangy flavor. The chicken is also served with some slices of oranges as a garnish and the portion and flavors overall for the price was very worth it. We would rate the Orange Chicken 9/10.
The last dish we got was the Lo Mein. The portion and serving size of the Lo Mein was also very full and great for the price. The sauce and cook on the noodles is cooked perfectly with little strips of carrots and onions in the Lo Mein. The noodles are also soft and flavorful with every bite. We would recommend getting the Fried Rice with the Orange chicken more compared to the Lo Mein because the Lo Mein and Orange chicken get more and more salty as you continue eating. Keep in mind the dishes you order to balance out the flavors as a lot of the dishes were more on the salty side. We would rate Lo Mein a 9/10 as well.
Lastly, we got the Taro and Black Sugar milk tea with boba and it was very delicious. The flavors tasted consistent with flavors at other boba places. We’re really glad that there is a good boba place in Powell now because the closest one before was in either Polaris or in Dublin so Yoshi is very convenient for Powell people. There is the option to get the boba warm or iced, but even with ice it didn’t taste watered down at all. There was a good amount of boba in each drink and the bubbles tasted delicious. Overall we rate the boba a 7.5/10, almost an 8/10.
Yoshi has so many other food and drink options to try, and with such a diverse menu there is an option for everyone. It’s located about 5 minutes from Liberty High School, so it’s a convenient spot for a quick snack after school or to grab take-out for the family.
