Pickleball has become increasingly popular over the past few years, and many parks in Powell have already accommodated this. Adventure Park, in downtown Powell, is enhancing their park by officially opening new pickleball courts later this month. The park currently houses playgrounds, fields, paths, shelters, and a wide skateboard park.
This addition is a great activity to do with friends and family while having fun, staying active, and learning a new sport that is cost-efficient. All you need to bring is your pickleball paddles and a few pickleballs to play. The sport is typically played with teams of two on each side, but can also be done one-on-one.
The opening will feature 8 new courts, which were planned under the 2024 Capital Improvement Plan, with construction starting in Spring 2024 and completed by summer’s end. This grand opening marks Powell’s investment in recreation and amenities to further the community’s establishment and well-being. It is accessible and free to people of all ages and levels of experience, similar to the nearby pickleball courts and Library Park.
Powell has demonstrated their interest in pickleball’s growing popularity through this investment open to the public. This commitment supports Powell’s trademark of providing inclusive recreational spaces where people can connect and stay active. The courts and shelters in the spacious park are designed for community engagement, casual and group play, and local tournaments. The result of this new development will further our sense of community spirit and invite pickleball enthusiasts to come and play.
Located at 260 Village Park Drive, the grand opening is Wednesday, October 30, from 3-4 PM, and involves the mayor and city manager’s appearance, a pickleball giveaway, and a ribbon cutting. There will also be a ceremonial first game on the courts. Visit the courts at some point with friends and family and enjoy this new addition to our community.
