While Indian cuisine is not hard to find in the Powell area, it takes a lot to create an establishment that provides good food, good service, and most of all, good times. We at Patriot Press went to Awadh to figure out which standards it met.
The Restaurant
Sitting on Moreland Drive (right by Sawmill Pkwy), Awadh Is the second installment of three Indian restaurants in the area. The first restaurant is on Bethel Rd, and the second, a smaller Indochinese takeout place, is on Sawmill Rd. This installment of Awadh features both a buffet hall and a more traditional table service (the latter of which we attended). Patriot Press writers Ronnie Eizenberg, Diya Kandula, and Varnika Mena went to the restaurant to review the food and restaurant as a whole.
The Service
The service at Awadh was very patient and kind, the waiters were very understanding when we were repeatedly not ready to order, as well as when we split the check five ways. The waiters and kitchen were very efficient in getting us our food, and we never felt like the food was taking a long time. There is no getting your order wrong here!
The Ambience
Awadh has lovely interior design, with rich burgundy crown molding, bright but warm lighting, lovely decorations, and vivid floral arrangements. While the decoration could’ve been more cohesive throughout the restaurant to create a unified style, each individual
arrangement brought a lot to the table (pun intended).
The Food
We got several different dishes while at the restaurant and all tried a little bit of each. For drinks we got a mango and rose lassis, appetizers were gobi manchurian and samosa chaat, and later we ordered chicken tikka masala and garlic naan. We felt like the chicken tikka masala tasted more like butter chicken than chicken tikka masala. The last few things we got were the palak paneer and the lamb curry. They also served complimentary soup at the beginning of the meal. The overall rating of the food was 7.5. Awadh has an extensive menu, and while we could not order all, we feel our selection represented a good variety.
