Liberty Golf is coming to a close, with the regular season ending 2 weeks ago at the Darby Creek match. Varsity members of the golf team will now advance to postseason, with sectionals, coming up on Tuesday, October 1st at Oakhaven Gold Club. Olivia Aronhalt, a senior on the Varsity golf team, has high hopes for the possibilities at sectionals and beyond.
“I think we have a really good chance at making it out of sectionals,” Aronhalt said. “I know we will play well at districts too.”
Liberty Golf as a whole has worked very hard to get where they are now, not just varsity but JV as well. With the regular season over, JV golfer Rushika Dandekar can reflect on a season well played.
“Our season was the best I could ask for,” Dandekar said. “I personally had a lot of great matches and so did the team.”
Liberty golf is one of the best in our region, and that’s not by chance. Liberty Golf athletes are dedicated to improvement and practice in order to reach their full potential.
“The team has worked so hard this year to get better,” Aronhalt said. “It [the work] showed with multiple PR’s on our team this season.”
Liberty Golf made a lot of achievements this year; JV won the Central Ohio JV league championship and varsity is going in to sectional ranking highly in the region.
“We’ve worked hard to get here and now we can go into sectionals and beyond knowing we’ll continue doing our very best,” Aronhalt said.
Liberty Golf isn’t just known for its amazing performances, the team is also loved by it’s members and coaches due to the supportive and nurturing atmosphere on the team. JV and varsity members alike love how close everyone is.
“I am most proud of our team’s unity this season,” Dandekar said. “We are all friends and love playing together.”
This closeness and support are reasons why Dandekar and Aronhalt love being on the golf team. They hope that next year’s freshman and anyone with interest will consider being a part of Liberty Golf.
“I would recommend Liberty golf to others because it’s such a great way to meet amazing people and do a sport you love while representing your school,” Dandekar said. “Being a part of the golf team has had a significant positive impact on my high school experience.”
