We are Arnav and Espen, and these are our Fantasy Football picks entering Week 2!
Espen’s Picks
Boom:
Espen’s pick: Josh Jacobs, GB
Jacobs plays against a Colts team that just let Joe Mixon run for 159 in week one. With Jordan Love out, the Packers will use the run game much more than they did last week. Jacobs was very effective last week in the run game and the passing game. He will see a lot of touches in week two, and will be more trustworthy than Malik Willis in the endzone. Put lots of confidence in starting Jacobs in week 2.
Bust:
Espen’s Pick: Steffon Diggs, HOU
Diggs had a very productive week one against the Colts. However, takeaway his two touchdowns, and Diggs has less than ten points. Don’t expect Diggs to have a big week again in week 2. The Texans play a very good Bears defense, and Nico Collins proved to still be the Texans’ number one receiver, after having six catches for 117 yards. Diggs is also part of a very crowded offense, with Tank Dell, Dalton Shultz, and Joe Mixon able to take away targets from Diggs. Diggs is still a good fit at WR2, but if faced with a tough decision, benching Diggs would be the right move.
Arnav’s Picks
Boom:
Arnav’s pick: Michael Pittman Jr., IND
Pittman Jr had a rough week one, only racking up 7.1 fantasy points in PPR leagues. I think, however, that he will have a major leap this upcoming week. Pittman is set to face off against the Green Bay Packers on the road. The Packers defense is ranked 22nd in the league after week one according to ESPN fantasy. Despite Pittman’s low week one performance, he was still targeted 8 different times throughout the game and caught 4 of these. Anthony Richardson also completed just 9 passes out of 19, meaning that about 44% of completed passes went to Pittman and about 42% of overall passes were targeted for Pittman. Pittman is set to have a great week against a mediocre defense and should definitely be on starting rosters.
Bust:
Arnav’s pick: Derrick Henry., BAL
Derrick Henry is not the guy you want leading your team. In week one he had just 10.6 fantasy points in PPR leagues, with the majority of those points coming from an early rushing touchdown in the first quarter. He only had thirteen carries and ran for 46 yards, which was less attempts than his quarterback Lamar Jackson, who ran 16 times for 122 yards. Jackson takes away a lot of Henry’s production in the run game, and Henry gets some of the least receptions for running backs in the league, since most of his touches come strictly from running the football. Henry is a very skilled player, but with his lack of usage in the Ravens offense, he shouldn’t be a big factor this week.
Espen’s Picks
Boom:
Espen’s pick: Ja’marr Chase, CIN
The Bengals vs. Chiefs matchup will be heavy through the air, as two explosive offenses meet. Despite the Bengals having a rough opening week, Ja’marr was still the Bengals top pass catcher. No one will benefit from this high offense game than Chase, especially with Bengals WR2 Tee Higgins expected to be out again.
Bust:
Espen’s Pick: Mark Andrews, BAL
Unfortunately for Mark Andrews owners, Isaiah Likely is moving into the TE1 role on the Ravens. This was very evident in week one, when Likely had nine catches for 111 yards and a touchdown. Andrews only had a measly two targets and 3.4 fantasy points. Andrews is also coming off of a serious car accident injury that could be affecting his production on the field. Andrews is no longer a sure TE1 in fantasy leagues. If Isaiah Likely is open on waivers, pick him up as he is becoming the Ravens top pass catcher.
Arnav’s Picks
Boom:
Arnav’s pick: Jayden Daniels, WAS
Jayden Daniels is one of the best quarterbacks to have this week. Although he had a mediocre passing game, Daniels scored 28.16 fantasy points due to his run game, racking up 2 touchdowns and 88 yards in 16 carries. The Commanders will play at home against the New York Giants on Sunday. This has potential to be an amazing game for Daniels, with the Giants having one of the worst teams in the NFL, and an 18th ranked defense via ESPN fantasy. Rushing stats also get more points than passing stats, and with Daniels loving to escape the pocket and take off for yardage, he’s very valuable in this aspect. Daniels is currently top 3 of all fantasy quarterbacks after week one, and this game definitely was not a fluke. Daniels was making a top tier defense look like a high school team, and will continue to thrive in week two.
Bust:
Arnav’s pick: Chris Olave, NO
Chris Olave is projected to have a 14.2 point game on the road against the Cowboys. I believe he’s not going to get this. Olave last week had just 2 targets, catching both for a total of just 11 yards. He had 3.1 fantasy points against the Panthers, and it likely won’t get much better, since he’s playing a much better secondary in the Cowboys, who are ranked 12th in all defenses and had the 3rd most fantasy points with 19 after week one. Olave also has to compete for targets with wide receiver Rasheed Shaheed, who had 3 catches on 5 targets and a receiving touchdown, and Alvin Kamara who also had 5 targets, catching them all. Olave will likely be matched up against cornerback Trevon Diggs, one of the best in the league. Olave should be quiet this game, and is a risk to start on teams.
