As the school year starts to get more intense, the counselors want to give us oversight into what the school year holds. In the sophomore seminar, we will go over graduation requirements, Educational options, and PSAT/SAT/ACT prep.
Our counselors are here to help with all of it including College and career advice, information on Education options, and Academic support.
When preparing for your future ask yourself the question: how am I involved in the community? Am I keeping my grades up? What are the graduation paths? And What career(s) am I interested in?
The consolers will talk to us about educational opportunities like teacher academy, DACC, and CCP. As well as different paths you can take within the school. They are also going to talk about how to prepare and sign up for the PSAT, SAT, and ACT. An important thing to note is that the PSAT is free to juniors but sophomores must pay a small fee.
Graduation requirements have stayed the same: you need 22 credits, 4 English, math, and history, 3 science, 1 art and PE, and 0.5 personal finance. You can get your PE credits by playing two seasons of a varsity sport or taking two PE classes.
There are lots of things you can do during high school to prepare you for college or trade careers. You can do a teacher academy which teaches you specific skills that you will need while you are a teacher like how to write lesson plans and manage a classroom.
Sophomore seminar is on September 20th in the auditorium, all of the counselors will be there.
