Liberty’s distance team earned a first place title in the district meet last Thursday following a dominating victory over the in the 4×800 meter relay. Zeid Rabi won the mile with a new personal best of 4:19 and Aadi Joshi took 6th in the 800m with a time of 1:57.
“I run the a little bit of everything but my main events are the 4×4, 800m, and 4×8,” says Joshi.
Aadi ran at outdoor nationals last year with the 4×800 and has trained to get his times faster in hopes of qualifying again.
“So far my pr(personal record) in the 800 is 1:57.78 and 4:23.22 is my best mile time but I know I can go faster,” says Joshi.
Joshi always pushes himself to be the best he can be and hopes to further improve in the postseason.
“Track season has been good so far, however I’m not where I want to be athletically, luckily there are still races to run,” says Joshi.
Aadi’s friend and star athlete: Zeid Rabi, who recently beat Aadi in the 800 meter dash at Liberty’s home meet against Olentangy, has nothing but good things to say about him.
“Aadi has a very competitive mindset, always trying his best to be number 1,” says Rabi.
Continuing with this high self standard Aadi sets his goals at nothing less than state champion.
“I want to go all Ohio with our 4×8 squad and perform well at nationals. My goal for senior year is to go all American in the 800,” says Joshi.
The path to Aadi’s current success was through 5 full cross country and track seasons that started when he was 12 years old.
“Training was hell, but the harder I trained, the more results I saw. My only regret is not training harder,” says Joshi.
As a seasoned upper-classman Aadi hopes to lead his younger teammates to follow in his footsteps.
“My advice to under-classmen is to try as hard as you can no matter what, because the hard work will pay off,” says Joshi.
