All OLHS Choirs coming together to sing and dance “City of Stars” from the “LaLa Land” movie to begin the concert. Ariana Kara created the choreography for the song and taught every choir to prepare. “When I found out I was assigned the choreography for choir, I was excited that I got to contribute to the concert in a way that was meaningful and fun for the singers and the audience. Next time I would spend more time practicing in order to dance to our full potential, “ said sophomore Ariana Kara.
Varsity Chorale performing “Philadelphia Freedom” first before the other choirs. Chorale prepared a lot and their plan is work on not just singing, but also enhancing the stage presence as well. “Chorale practice a lot and worked very hard, I think this Pop concert was an amazing end to the year,” sophomore Madison Petz said.
Treble Chorus performing “Surfin’ USA“ with beach props and choreography to fit the theme. This concert was the last concert of their freshmen year as they finished a full first year of choir. “There’s definitely room for more improvement. I think we had great stage presence but we could work on our vowels more,” said freshman Lily McDonald.
Sol acapella group performing “Separate Ways “ with Rayne Flowers being the main lead. Sol worked for two months for this song that consisted of a fast pace choreography to make it more dynamic as their goal. “The choreography was a little different from the usual ones we have done before. The part where they circle around me and start abruptly moving fast was the most dynamic part of it,” senior Rayne Flowers said.
All choirs coming together to perform “We Built This City” to wrap up the concert for the night. The choreography was made by Samantha DeToto who is a senior in Chorale. The dance was made to have a Rock and Roll theme. “Performing with everyone is always the most exciting part, where everyone can gather together to show the potential that we all carry,” sophomore Hasini Manishub said.
Special guests Cary Dachtyl (Percussionist), Bob Lust (Bass), and Shine Robison (Accompanist) with Mr. O’Neal leading the concert for the choirs. Cary and Shine have been playing as a guest to many of the choir concerts this year, being a guest and playing in the last year’s pop concert as well. “The Pop concert is one of the concerts I love most. It is kind of like dessert because its pop music, and who doesn’t like dessert? And it’s really fun to watch the choirs dance and sing while having a great time,” Mr. O’Neal said.
Megan Uppala, Katie Bell, Ava Shurte, and Ally Bosma’s last senior choir concert of the year. Megan, Katie, Ava, and Ally have been friends and together since the beginning of their entrance to choir. They were awarded the best squad award in the choir senior show. “My last concert at Liberty was really sentimental and held a special place in my heart. I have learned so much from the Liberty Music department that I couldn’t have learned anywhere else. I feel like an accomplished choir member as I move on with the next chapter of my life,” senior Katie Bell said.
Some of the Sol and Belle acapella group girls together after performing their last concert of the year. Leia and Kendyll were the leads in the Belle’s performance as they performed “Sweet Dreams “ on stage. “Belles worked really hard, we had a really difficult arrangement but I think we performed it very well. It was like a two to three people part, but we did great,” sophomore Kendyll Williams said.
