On May 8, 2024, the Miami Dolphins has signed 31 year old veteran wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to their roster. They signed him on a 1-year $3 million contract that is worth $8.25 million with incentives. It is likely that OBJ won’t be a starter for the dolphins, he will probably start behind both Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. With the addition of Odell I believe that Miami Dolphins will have the best wide receiver core not just of 2024 but of all time.
Since 2014 Odell has had an exciting NFL career. He was selected in the 1st round of 2014 NFL draft by the New York Giants. In his rookie season he finished with amazing statistics. He acquired 91 receptions, he had 1,305 receiving yards, his average yards per play was 14.3 yds, his longest play that season was 80 yds, and he caught 12 touchdowns. Since 2014, he has 566 receptions, has gained 7,932 yds, and he made 59 touchdowns.
It’s pretty unsure why the Dolphins decided to sign him considering they already had one of the best WR cores in the entire league with Hill and Waddle as their starters.I mean it’s probably due to the fact that no wide receiver has made over 32 catches in the past two years. If Odell can stay healthy he become a great third option receiver and distract defenses from Hill and Waddle.
When OBJ played with the LA Rams back in 2022, he was with cornerback Jalen Ramsey; That was the same year that the Rams went on to win Super Bowl LVI. In the 2023 NFL season Jalen Ramsey got traded to the Dolphins. So now that the Ramsey-Beckham Jr. duo is back together I believe that the Dolphins have a very high possibility to become this upcoming season’s Super Bowl champs.
Looking at all these factors, I think it was an excellent choice to bring OBJ to the Dolphins squad. The Dolphins will truly be an unstoppable force that not even Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs will be able to bring down.
