Browns 2023 Season Preview

For most Browns fans the 2022-2023 season was a letdown. Finishing with a record 7-10 which was bad enough to be last in the division. Some fans are regretting some of the previous offseason moves such as the Deshaun Watson trade, especially after his disappointing season after coming back in week 13. They can’t see past this move especially since we gave up many picks and a lot of cap room for him.

I think that Browns’ fans need to keep a positive view when looking forward to the Brown’s future. We have all of our big pieces locked down for the next couple of years meaning that unless we make big trades there will not be much movement when it comes to our main guys. We have many stars such as Deshaun Watson who even with his subpar return looked good at some moments and with enough time should return to his former self and have some success. Nick Chubb will continue to keep the same pace that he has had for the last three years where he has consistently been in the top 3 running back conversation.

Our line has improved immensely from our dark years back in 2016-2017 with pieces like Joel Bitonio, Wyatt Teller, and Jack Conklin. This line has been one of the biggest factors in this team and can hopefully keep leading this offense. Our Wide Receiver room has also improved after a couple of years of struggle, Amari Cooper continues to show his dominance by being the best route runner in the league. Donovan People-Jones had a very impressive year showing that he can be this team’s Wide Receiver two, and hopefully, the Browns find their Wide Receiver three in the draft this year. Other pass catchers include tight end David Njoku who has not only improved catching the ball but has become one of the leading tight ends in the blocking department.

Moving on to the defensive side of things the Browns were not great this year posting a negative turnover differential but came back around posting 10 more sacks than they allowed. This defense is led by stars like Myles Garrett who has finished top 6 in Sacks the past three years and who is probably the best leader on this team. The Browns just signed Ogbo Okoronkwo who has one of deepest sets of pass rush moves in the league. We have young stars like Denzel Ward, Greg Newsome, and MJ Emerson.

Overall I think most fans have big expectations for this season and will not be satisfied with a less than .500 winning percentage or not having any awards at the end of the season. We all look for big seasons out of our top guys and look to make a good run at the AFC North top spot and a good run in the playoffs.
