March 28 and 29, boys Tennis states is released. Meaning some of your Liberty Patriots might be participating for a state championship. In this we will cover some previous results from past Patriots and what could come in the future for some of our own right now.
The boys tennis team has had an up and donws season thus far, winning easily against some but also having some poor performances. This does not take away from the total talent and skill this team possess. From up and coming players such as sophomore duo Ryan Hand and Rishi Pokompoli as well as the experienced seniors like Shane Hand and Shivam Vora. All players wish to make this tournament and all are capable of doing so. Lets get in one who could potentially participate and some previous finishes of past or present Patriots.
Shane Hand is one to watch of course. He’s had some history in this tournament. As a senior potentially going into the 2026 tournament he plans on winning his first state title after coming close in multiple years before this. 2025 he had a heartbreaking loss to eventual state runner up Nihal Narisetty 7-6 in the first set and 6-4 in the second. Sophomore year [2024] he got all the way to the semifinals where he would suffer defeat to New Albany’s Abhinav Dandu 7-5, 6-4 before taking 4th after the 3rd place game.
As for doubles in 2024 the Badri twins [Krish and Arya] lost in the second round to eventual state champions 6-2 in both sets and 2023 the patriots saw Hummza Ali and Jayanth Rammakagari take third in the doubles tournament. Hopefully our Patriots can go all the way this year.
Potential participants in this years state include the Hand brothers, of Ryan Hand and Shane Hand who will probably both be participating in the singles this year as well as Eli Englert. For doubles potential participants include Rishi Pokompoli, Kevin Sucha, Shivam Vora, and Rishabh Vora.
Watch out for next weekend as your Liberty Patriots are awaiting a chance for a state title, and go support your fellow classmates.
