Olentangy Liberty hosts its annual Freedom Relays this Friday, April 24 at Patriot Stadium. The electric track event is Liberty’s all relay invitational, hosting all other Olentangy teams along with other elite central Ohio competition.

The 4×1600 will begin at 5:00, with all other events following at 6:00. The order of events at 6:00 will be as follows:

4×100

Distance Medley Relay: 1200-400-800-1600

Sprint Medley Relay: 100-100-200-400

4×800 Relay

4×200 Relay

Intermediate Medley: 800-400-400-800

4×400 Relay

“Freedom Relays is a unique meet where there are a lot more people involved and a lot more action,” Jacob Ogilbee ‘26 said. “It truly is a great time.”

Ogilbee will be competing in the Distance Medley Relay, also known as the Lap Medley, as well as the 4×400. Ogilbee was a member of the 4×800 team that dominated last years’ race, winning with a time of 7:52.31. 

The Freedom Relays will be the only home invitational for the Patriots, and in the past few years it has been action packed with records and nail biting races. The boys team won the relay meet in 2025, with 93 points, while the girls finished second, just half a point behind Dublin Jerome. 

The girls team will be led by cross country state champion Elena Aldrink, who also finished second in the 3200 at the indoor state meet with a time of 10:24.05. Aldrink is coming off a mile win at the Delaware Pacer Invitational, where she ran a time of 4:57.94. 

Gary Ross will announce the meet, always adding to the excitement of the event. The relay format brings a stronger team feel to the meet that not many other meets can match. 

“We get to work with the sprinters which allows us to create new bonds and friendships we wouldn’t have in a normal meet.” said Addy Miller ‘27.

Field events will kick off the meet at 4:00, followed by the 4×1600 at 5:00, and all other running events at 6:00, with girls racing first, then boys.
