Project Hail Mary was released on March 20th 2026 and if I’m being honest I wasn’t quite sure what to expect going into the theater. I knew it was going to be about space but that’s about it. I honestly wasn’t even going to see it until I heard all the good reviews for it. I’ll try my best to keep this spoiler free but no promises. 

This is definitely one of the best movies I’ve seen at the theater in a while. I really like movies that switch from the past and the present, and I think they did a really good job with distinguishing what was in the past as well. The movie started off with the main character Grace waking up in space, being the only one alive on the ship and having no idea how he got there or what he is doing. Eventually he begins to remember his mission, to save the sun from the alien-like substance eating it so that the people on Earth don’t die. 

While Grace was in space, he meets an alien named Rocky who is also trying to save his planet. I absolutely loved Rocky, I thought he was the cutest little guy and the entire movie I was so worried about him. I also loved watching Rocky slowly learn how to communicate with Grace.

I loved all the humor in this movie as well. I think Grace and I share a similar sense of humor, which made him a lot more likible to me. I loved seeing Ryan Goseling as Ken in Barbie and I feel like he just has such energy he brings to his roles.

I also really liked all the visuals in the movie. I think space is really pretty in general and the movie did a really great job capturing the beauty of it. My favorite scene was when Grace discovered a planet he named “Adrian”, which was a gorgeous green and red planet. 

Music is very important in a movie and whoever was in charge of choosing it for ‘Project Hail Mary’ did a really good job. My favorite song they included was “Sign of The Times” by Harry Styles.

I definitely think ‘Project Hail Mary’ is a 10/10 movie. Grace and Rocky are such well-made loveable characters and I loved watching their bond throughout the movie. I would definitely recommend this movie, and I may even end up going to see it again.
