Starbucks released its new 2026 spring menu on March 3, 2026. The lineup features new flavors that have not been offered before, such as the Toasted Coconut Cream Cold Brew and the Iced Ube Coconut Macchiato. Their spring menu also consists of the return of lavender drinks like the Iced Lavender Cream Chai and Iced Lavender Cream Matcha. They also introduced an adorable frog cake pop.
I decided to try the Ube Coconut Macchiato because it had the new coconut and ube flavor together. It came to my surprise that many people didn’t actually know what ube was. Ube is a flavor that comes from purple yam and although it sounds very odd, many dessert places use the flavor for ice creams and such.
Before tasting the drink, I expected a sweet flavor since ube was usually sweet when it was used in desserts. The visuals were beautiful, and it was very similar to the pictures they advertised. There were small coconut pieces on top of the pretty purple ube cold foam, and the ombre colors of the coconut and coffee blended so well together.
The drink was sweet just like I expected. I could taste the coconut flavor very well with the espresso mix; however, the ube had barely any flavor. It just tasted like basic cold foam, which I was disappointed about since the excitement was all about the ube flavor. The drink was not something that made me want to drink more, but it wasn’t bad either.
Overall, I would rate the drink a 6/10. It tastes sweet, and it balances well with the espresso, but it was also just very plain in some areas not living up to the excitement. For the price of $6.45, I would not purchase it again since nothing about it made me really love it.
