While the new year continues, so does the Dubai chocolate food trend. Starbucks released a blend of flavors by releasing a Dubai chocolate matcha, Dubai chocolate mocha, and a Cannon Ball drink on January 6th.
Going into Starbucks, I purchased a tall of the Dubai chocolate matcha, and I came in with low expectations. Without the kadayifi, it was quite obvious the drink wasn’t actually going to taste like Dubai chocolate. Yet, I had hoped that it would still be good in flavor.
The presentation was nice and pretty, like the rest of their drinks. The drink base was a matcha, while the cold foam was the Dubai chocolate portion. The drink is also supposed to have pistachio syrup and a salted butter topping as well to capture that Dubai flavor.
When I took my first sip, the cold foam didn’t taste like Dubai chocolate at all. It tasted exactly like chocolate milk, and I don’t think I received any of the salted butter topping. Drinking the matcha with the cold foam was a little disappointing. The matcha didn’t taste like anything, and the flavor combo of the chocolate and matcha didn’t match at all.
I can’t describe what the taste was like, but overall it didn’t match. It just tasted like nothing with a hint of chocolate milk. It wasn’t horrible to the point where I was disgusted, however, it was a drink that I would just drink if I had to.
Overall, I definitely wouldn’t recommend purchasing this drink even if it were your first time. I highly don’t think it’s worth the money compared to the other drinks Starbucks has to offer. I rate the drink a 4/10.
