This Friday, January 16th, the Olentangy Liberty Basketball teams will take on Orange in the annual Challenge game. While these rivals will compete for the win, the points won’t be the only thing earned through this game.

The Challenge game has been an annual tradition for the Liberty and Orange basketball teams. The game promotes the Natalie Gray Foundation, an organization dedicated to raising funds for pediatric brain tumor research. This foundation is founded by Natalie Gray herself, a survivor of childhood cancer.

“This game has supported my foundation by not only raising money for pediatric brain tumors, but allowing us to engage with high school students and educate them on the critical need for more research,” Gray said.

According to the Children’s Cancer Research Fund, a national nonprofit organization that invests in cancer research, brain tumors are the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in children. Gray had devoted her time and energy to funding these researches.

“Our goal is to keep giving funds to an organization called Connect. They create life-saving clinical trials and treatments for kids. Our goal is to increase the survival rates for these terrible diseases,” Gray said.

The Natalie Gray Foundation will come from the generous donations from the community. Along with this, money will be raised through raffles. Many of these raffle prizes include signed helmets, giftcards, and Crew tickets.

There will be two games, one girl’s game and one boy’s game. The girl’s game will begin at 6:00 PM and the boy’s game will start at 7:30 PM. Both games will be held in the Olentangy Liberty High School’s main gym.

“When a student shows up, they are not only showing their support for the foundation, but also supporting children all around the world who are struggling and fighting for a healthier life,” Gray said.
