Zootopia 2 set the winter season of 2025 in theaters when it released on November 26. Although the first movie was released almost 10 years ago in 2016, the public was excited to watch the second movie upon its release.

The movie features the two main characters, Nick and Judy, who are now partners in the police department, creating their own adventure as a new character of a snake, appears. As someone who had forgotten the plot of what the first Zootopia movie was like, I came into the theater with no expectations. However, I was surprised to find out that I actually thoroughly enjoyed the movie.

The pacing of the plot in Zootopia 2 was well-planned. I first thought that the beginning was a little boring, but I later believed everything that happened in the beginning was necessary for the buildup and context of the adventure from the middle to the end. The storyline was also very entertaining because there was a lot of action going around while filling in pieces of emotion as Nick and Judy’s relationship develops in ways they haven’t addressed.

I loved the plot; many plot twists threw me off guard when it came to the villains and more. Overall, I would usually find Disney movies quite boring because they’re the same old adventure plot that doesn’t really excite me, yet this movie actually excited me in its journey of carrying out their mission because it wasn’t original; every bit of emotion, action, character, and problem built up the angst and excitement.

While I do have many positive comments to say about this movie, the one thing that threw me off was how some of the jokes made in Zootopia 2 were not very kid-friendly. While social media also mentions this problem, some people don’t mind, while others do. Personally, I didn’t think it was too horrible. However, I would say if Disney does proclaim that this is kid-friendly, then I would disagree with that statement. I do believe there were ways in which they could’ve tweaked the dialogue so it didn’t feature adult content.

Lastly, I loved the movie because of the relationship development in both characters, Nick and Judy. While they have always been buddy-like partners since the beginning of the movie, what really made my heart move was their realizations at the end of the movie. While action and plot may be entertaining, what really marks a remembrance when thinking about Zootopia is the deep relationship Judy and Nick carry with each other, showing viewers the respect they have for each other. Both characters really showed the audience that communication is important in connection with others, giving the movie a heartfelt ending.

For the most part, I would definitely recommend this movie to my peers. I would give this movie 4.5/5 stars, and I wouldn’t mind watching it again with others for fun as well. If you haven’t watched Zootopia 2 yet, I highly recommend cozying up and watching it at least once for a journey of fun and adventure as the season progresses.
