The Olentangy Liberty Varsity Girls Cross Country competed at the OHSAA Division 1 State Championship Saturday, November 1st. 

The girls that raced were Senior Elena Aldrink, Senior Bridget Snider, Senior Katie Boettcher, Senior McKinley Newcomer, Junior Addy Miller, Junior Olivia Bachmann, and Sophomore Quinn Cachat. As a team, the girls placed fourth, which is the highest they’ve gotten in the past ten years.

Individually, Elena Aldrink placed first, earning a state title. Her official time was 17.25.9. in the 5000 meters race. Aldrink had a standout season, winning five of her races. One of which she achieved a personal and school record of 16.55.5. at Celtic Clash. Not only is she a star runner, Aldrinks’ devoted mindset leaves a lasting impression on those around her. 

Her teammate Ellie Mitrey, a junior on the cross country team, said “She was one of the most humble people I’ve ever met despite her accomplishments,” when asked about Aldrink’s new school record. 

Next fall, she will be attending the University of Washington where she’s committed to run on their track and field team where she’ll continue her running career.

The girls ended their 2025-2026 season with inspiring accomplishments. Their consistent hard work and dedication is admirable and there is nothing but bright futures ahead of them.
