Liberty girls volleyball dominated in their first district match against Grove City, sweeping the Greyhounds 3-0.
At first, both teams looked nervous, with many points being lost on uncharacteristic mistakes, including the teams trading out of bounds serves, and Grove City whiffing on hits. It was even through the first half of the set, but Liberty saw themselves begin to pull away, and won the first set 25-18.
Going into the second set, Liberty cleaned up their mistakes and settled in, something that Grove City was unable to do all game. Liberty simply looked more ready to compete and attack, whereas the Greyhounds looked as if they were playing in any other exhibition game. Taking advantage of Grove City’s miscues, Liberty won the second set 25-13.
It was more of the same in the third and final set, with Liberty controlling the game with finesse and power. Liberty jumped out to an 18-8 lead, and never looked back. Grove City miscommunication blocked them from ever getting back into the game. Liberty took advantage and won 25-15, sweeping the Greyhounds.
