During its September 9th event, Apple announced an array of new products, all of which are now available. These products range from new iPhones and Apple Watches, to a new model of Airpods Pro. On top of this, the company also announced the new M5 processor on October 15th, along with three new products in which it will be used.
Starting off with products from the September event, the iPhone 17 was released with four different versions. These versions include the base model, the new “Air” model, and the “Pro” and “Pro Max” models. The Air only has one main camera, the base model has a main and ultra wide camera, and the Pro and Pro Max models have both of these cameras plus a telephoto lens. They all include Apple’s new A19 processor, with the Air, Pro and Pro Maxes including an enhanced “pro” version of it. While the Pro and Pro Max have the highest battery lives, the Air makes up for it by being Apple’s thinnest phone to date at 5.6 mm. All four of these phones now have a 120hz display, making them appear smoother, and they all have an increased base storage at 256 gigabytes.
Sticking with the September event, the Apple Watch lineup added a new Apple Watch Series 11, Apple Watch SE 3 and Apple Watch Ultra 3. The SE positions itself as a budget model, while the Ultra fills the need for a sports focused watch while also being the priciest option of the bunch. The Series 11 and Ultra 3 watches boast new health features such as a hypertension notification, while the SE doesn’t. They all have the same new processor, the S10. Notably the SE 3 joined the other models by adding an always-on display. Along with increases in battery life, all three models received fast charging, a feature previously limited to the base Apple watch series.
Also in the September event was the new Airpods Pro 3. Compared to the previous generation, their active noise cancellation is twice as effective. Among the most noteworthy changes is the addition of a heart rate sensor, making them useful for workouts. Its 8 hours of listening time also represents a 33% increase from the last generation. Its new live translation feature translates languages in real time through the use of AI, and is available in a range of languages with more being added by the end of the year.
Aside from the September products, the M5 processor was announced in a less flashy newsletter along with a new Vision Pro, Macbook pro and iPad Pro. The main improvements in these products all stem from the inclusion of the new M5 processor. One such improvement is in battery life, which is better for all three despite limited changes to the batteries themselves. The M5 processor also allows these products to enjoy three times faster. As far as hardware changes go, a significant one is the Vision Pro’s new “dual knit” band for improved comfort.
Altogether, these products round up Apple’s recent fall product releases.
