Tonight, October 15 and tomorrow, October 16 both men’s and women’s Liberty soccer play their district semifinals, vs Delaware Hayes and Newark High School.
Tonight, men’s take on Delaware Hayes in a highly anticipated 7 seed vs 16 seed matchup. Liberty come into this match on a 4 game unbeaten streak, including a narrow but impressive 3-2 comeback win vs St. Xavier. Delaware Hayes are the opposite, as they enter with just 1 win in their last 6 matches. The winner of this match will take on either Hilliard Davidson or Marysville. Both of which have encountered Liberty and Hayes, Liberty with a 5-1 embarrassment of Marysville and a 2-1 unfortunate loss vs Davidson. Hayes on the other hand had a 2-1 loss vs Marysville and a 8-1 defeat at Davidson.
October 16th sees the women’s team take on Newark High School. Liberty come into the game seeded seventh with an 8-7-1 record, while Newark go into it as a twenty-two seed with a 7-8-2 record. The winner will play either (6) Olentangy Braves or (21) Central Crossing. Olentangy defeated Liberty 2-0 in the opening match of the season. Newark however hasn’t played either of the two. Newark have a dangerous offense but not the greatest defense as they have had multiple 5+ goal performances but have also had multiple 5+ goals conceded on multiple occasions as well.
Both Liberty teams play at home, and are aiming to win and advance. That’s the name of the game when it comes to times like these. The men’s team plays tonight at 7:00. While the women’s team plays at 7:00 P.M. tomorrow night. Go support the Patriots as these are big moments for all players.
