The Liberty Girls Varsity Golf team finished their 2025 season Monday October 6th. A big part of this season was celebrating their leading seniors on both the Varsity team and the JV team which include Keya Bhide, Rushika Dandekar, Kailyn Ouderkirk, and Shreya Shah.
Throughout the season, the team faced challenging courses, unpredictable weather, and fierce opponents. The season was highlighted by standout performances at Sectionals, where the team’s hard work shone through as everyone scored within the 80s, the team getting 4th place, and moving on to districts. Whether competing individually or as a team, every member played a role in creating a supportive and motivating atmosphere.
Leading the team both on and off the course was senior captain Shreya Shah, whose leadership and commitment defined the season. Shah was a role model for every player. Her ability to lead by example inspired younger teammates to strive for excellence.
“I’ve really enjoyed my team captain position.” She also mentioned that she “liked taking a leadership role.” Shah ’26 said.
This season was also a time to celebrate all of the team’s seniors whose impact extended far beyond the scorecards. Each senior brought a unique personality and strength to the team. Together, they helped shape the team’s culture, setting an example of perseverance and teamwork that will guide future players for years to come.
As the seniors prepare for their next chapters, they leave behind a legacy of hard work, friendship, and pride in representing Liberty. Though their final season has come to an end, their influence will continue to inspire the teammates who follow in their footsteps.
Ouderkirk said, “When I was a freshman, we had a senior. Her name was Taylor”…”She [helped] me change my mindset to take golf more [easily] and I would like to leave that kind of legacy on my teammates.”
Although their season was stopped at districts, the team is very proud of their performance this season and enjoyed each other’s presence on the course. At the end of the day, the non-seniors are ready to improve even more next year, and the seniors will be missed a lot.
