Liberty’s field hockey team is halfway through its season. They are currently ranked 16th in the state out of 40 teams and have a winning record.
The state semifinal is on October 3rd and the state championship is on November 2nd. The team has played 10 games so far and has 7 games left in the regular season. Liberty field hockey strives to have a positive team culture built on good relationships with teammates.
“The team culture is fun, positive, and encouraging. Everyone is very nice,” said Nora Terse ‘28.
This team is built on the efforts of freshmen, seniors and everyone in between which is why it is important to Liberty Field hockey that everyone feels welcomed.
“ Liberty field hockey has positively impacted my life, it has helped me to build relationships with freshman and upperclassmen,” said Mia Terse ‘28.
Some of the girls on this field hockey team have been playing together their whole high school careers, even so, liberty field hockey has created an environment where their teammates feel loved.
“Everyone on both teams is super close and it is a super safe environment where we all genuinely care for each other, but also play great alongside each other,” said Allie Tolford ‘27.
Having great relationships off the field is translating into having great relationships on the field. The team is looking forward to the rest of their season and continuing to grow as a team.
“Already we have outscored and outshot our stats from last year which I see as a huge accomplishment and just the beginning as we look ahead to the second half of our season,” said captain Megan Sullenberger 25’.
The team is looking forward to the rest of the season and playoffs. Along with other things doing well in playoffs is a huge goal for Liberty Field Hockey.
“The team is playing very well, we are super united, and have already improved significantly from last year,” said Tolford
Nearing the end of the season the team is going to continue to work hard and keep their effort up.
“To do that it’s going to take a lot of continued commitment and hard work and I have no doubt our team will show up and put the effort in,” said Sullenberger.
