Being an incoming freshman can be nerve-racking. Coming into a brand-new school and environment is exciting but can also be scary. Fortunately, OLHS holds a Frosh Fest on August 8. Frosh Fest is considered “freshman orientation” but way more exciting. This is a day for incoming OLHS freshmen to get to know each other, the school, and some upperclassmen.
When freshmen first arrive at Frosh Fest, everyone will gather in the auditorium. Your group is by last name, and that is who you will travel and be with all day. The staff welcomes you to high school and gives you an overview of what your day is going to look like.
You will travel throughout the day and do different activities to get to know others better, and the school better. You will also get your school photo taken, so be ready. Also, you will have lunch. This gives you the opportunity to get to know even more students than the ones in your group.
At the end of the day, there is a pep rally for everyone at Frosh Fest. You’re separated into different colors by last name, and different people from your team compete in fun games to win. Finally, you get your school schedule and get the chance to walk around to see your classes. This is the most beneficial and makes you more comfortable with your first day of high school. Then, go home and soak up the last few days of summer before school starts!
Frosh Fest is supposed to make incoming freshmen feel more comfortable in the environment they are going to be in for the next four years. Incoming freshmen should be thankful for this day and should take the opportunity to do it on August 8!
