An Overdue Review of Starbucks’ Iced Sugar Cookie Almond Milk Latte

November fourth marked the return of the infamous Iced Sugar Cookie Almond Milk Latte. Just as the name describes, the latte is supposed to mimic the taste of a holiday sugar cookie in liquid form. Garnished with green and red sprinkles, this latte is said to be the perfect holiday drink. Following the buzz of this drink on social media, I decided to taste it and provide an honest review of it.

Upon receiving it, I noticed there weren’t many sprinkles on top as promised. After further inspection of the drink’s appearance, I realized most of the sprinkles had settled to the bottom. This wasn’t the most important factor of the drink, but it was disappointing not getting the sweet cookie sprinkles in each sip. The latte also looked very light in color, almost a water like substance.

After I took the first sip, I was highly disappointed. Considering the fame this drink has received from social media, I was let down by a great amount. Simply put, the latte tasted more like watered down coffee and syrup. Overly sweet, the drink left an unpleasant taste in my mouth. The almond milk and sugar cookie syrup used did not complement each other, creating an odd artificial taste to it that was overall unappealing.

This latte was a major disappointment. Something that sounded so appetizing was truly too good to be true. If you plan to order this drink, I would recommend trying a milk substitute, such as oat milk or whole milk, being that these could compliment the syrup better and water the drink down less. Until then, I think it is safe to stick with the classic Starbucks holiday drinks.
