The Liberty Track and Field team has many stand out players within the team one of them is junior Alex Kielczewski.
Alex started track when he was a sophomore.
“I got into track because my friends and family said I would be good at it,” said Kielczewski. He had an amazing first year and was looking forward to running this year going to all of the off season practices, but unfortunately he got injured. For 20 days Alex was injured and had to sit out on important meets and practices. This was rough for Alex, because he truly loves sprinting and this unexpected injury took a huge toll on him.
“It stopped me from doing something I liked and it was hard to support the team when I wasn’t out there practicing with them,” said Kielczewsk.
Despite these injuries Alex showed up for his teammates no matter what, showing up to every single meet rooting for each and every single one of his teammates
“Even though he didn’t really understand shot put or discus he made a effort to show up when our event started to support us,” said Blake Leopold, a thrower on the track team.
Eventually after days of resting and making sure his body can fully heal Alex came back and began to run in track meets again, he out performed himself beating his old record making a new PR for himself with a 12.16 100 Meter sprint and a 25.70 200 Meter sprint in a meet with five teams
“I felt better than ever that meet,” said Kielczewsk. “I just wish I was able to recover faster so I could participate more.”
For the rest of the season Alex continued to get better and better, quickly getting into the Marysville JV invitational. Kielczewsk ran the 200 meter at his last meet.
“Going to Marysville was amazing, it was my first ever invitational for track and it was really the culmination of all the hard work I put into track this season I only wish I wasn’t injured for those first two meets,” Kielczewsk said.
