Nolan Sobota ‘28 created a piece full of creative elements. The piece demonstrates his many diverse interests through detailed drawings. The circular charm includes a red abstract design surrounded by four evenly spaced holes. “The whole process of making the necklace took around 2 weeks, and turned out to be pretty difficult. However, it did all work out in the end,” Van Zwieten said.A sculpture by Morgan Childs ‘27 implied an overall sense of twisting movement. Its green accents and speckled exterior makes it seem old and worn. Childs said, “The texture of the piece was one of my favorite parts to do, but actually sculpting the piece itself was difficult. I was very excited when I won the ribbon for it because it was such a fun experience to design.”Kira Vanstone ‘27 created a portrait of a woman in shades of blue. The contrasting yellow background creates a pop-out effect. “Working on this piece was difficult, but I am glad it turned out well in the end,” Vanstone said.A copper butterfly created by Lindey Van Zwieten ‘27 was beautiful in its intricacy. Van Zwieten uses molding and texture to detail the wings and antennae and a double layer of wings to show movement. She said, “I decided to make this piece because I really just love butterflies, but also the symbolic meaning behind them of a new beginning. I think it can really help people who are having a hard time, and remind them that this situation will transform into a brighter end.”A black swan mug sculpted by Leo Ryan ‘28 is simple and elegant. It is a tribute to the iconic black swan and the deep meaning behind it. “I created this piece with the idea of perfectionism and self-depreciation in mind. The black on the swan is meant to pay homage to pieces of pop culture, such as the Black Swan, among others,” Ryan said.
