Yesterday, the Olentangy Liberty Girls Lacrosse team volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House and made dinner for the families temporarily residing there. The Ronald McDonald House is a charity organization in Columbus Ohio that provides a home for families with sick children who are seeking care.
Liberty Girls Lacrosse volunteered at the RMHC last year when they made a pancake dinner for the residents. This year, they made lasagna with brownies, salad, and bread.
“The food we ended up making was really delicious,” Jordan Hazey ’25 said, “It was relatively easy to make and I think everyone really enjoyed the food.”
Not only was volunteering a great experience for team bonding for LibGLax, but it was also a great way to serve their community and help those in need. As a program, they value selflessness and supporting others, and this volunteer experience was a great way to put it into practice.
“It was a lot of fun getting to make meals with my teammates but it was also really rewarding in knowing that we were able to help so many people,” Kate Heym ’25 said. “I am really thankful that we had this opportunity to help these families in their times of need”.
The Liberty Girls Lacrosse team got to experiment in the kitchen, test their cooking skills, and spend valuable team bonding time with one another. They are already looking forward to volunteering again.
“I think it’s really great for our program to help the community in this way,” Kate Gray ’25 said. “I hope we have the opportunity to do it again in the future.”
