On February fourth Sabrina Carpenter announced a deluxe version of her album “Short n’ Sweet” that she released in August. The deluxe is set to come out on Valentine’s Day and was announced the day after she won two Grammys.
This deluxe version has four new songs, ‘15 Minutes’, ‘Couldn’t Make It Any Harder’, ‘Busy Woman’, ‘Bad Review’, and a version of ‘Please, Please, Please’ with Dolly Parton.
She has two vinyl variants, one blue and one white. Both of which are 45.99$ on her online shop. She also has a CD available with lipstick kiss marks covering the disc. She also released a shirt and playing cards themed to the album.
The announcement on Instagram was designed as if it were her diary. There were little doodles, cursive handwriting and some scribbled out and corrected songs and words. It was ‘written’ on notebook paper with more lipstick kiss marks.
Personally I loved the deluxe version. My favorite being ‘15 Minutes’. My favorite part specifically with this song is the play on words, one of her lyrics being “I can do a lot in 15 minutes” and all five songs took a total of 15 minutes.
“Couldn’t Make It Any Harder” reminds me a lot of “Hopelessly Devoted to You” from Grease and her vocals were also showcased beautifully here.
Please Please Please with Dolly Parton had mixed reviews. The production sounds a bit like her other song ‘Slim Pickins’ mixed with it. For me after I listened a couple times I got more used to it. However a lot of people online thought it sounded like Parton is creeping up behind you, which I find absolutely hilarious…and I unfortunately agree.
Busy Woman and Bad Reviews were other great ones too, Busy Woman capturing her flirty personality and charm while Bad Reviews had more of a heartbroken- hopelessly in love feel for it.
Overall I was a big fan of her deluxe, I like the cover photo a lot better than the normal album cover and I felt like the deluxe showed a lot more of her personality than her normal album. Carpenter has always done an amazing job of incorporating her humor and personality into her music and I’m looking forward to hopefully seeing this more in her future pr
