The recent game between the University of Georgia and Georgia Tech’s football teams has made history, but for seemingly all the wrong reasons. UGA and Tech’s already fiery rivalry has only heated up even more, which can be clearly seen with the Bulldogs beating the Yellow Jackets. With eight overtimes, this is the longest game in SEC history, narrowly beating out the 2018 LSU vs. Texas A&M game. This game just barely skirted past the all-time college football record, that being the 2021 game between Illinois and Penn State.
I didn’t watch the whole game (but then again, can you really blame me?), but I was with my family during Thanksgiving break. My cousins are both from Georgia; one of them is a UGA grad and the other still goes there. As you can probably tell, it was intense. Even though hindsight bias led to them saying they knew that UGA would win because Georgia Tech could never win because they suck (or something like that). I’m sure that Georgia Tech fans are probably also spewing forth lots of insults towards UGA.
As a neutral party in the matter, I don’t really find myself nearly as passionate about this. The only thing that’s clear is that the competition between these two state schools will remain fierce.
