On August 28th, the 2022 MTV VMA’s were held. Taylor Swift was nominated and won several awards for her All Too Well short film.

In 2012, Taylor Swift released her fourth studio album Red, to which she later re-recorded and released in 2021, naming it Red (Taylor’s Version) in order to gain full ownership of the album. Along with this, the singer-songwriter released All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version) and a fourteen minute short film that she wrote and directed. The film stars Sadie Sink and Dylan O’Brien, showcasing her struggles of a past relationship and the imbalances of power she faced.

Since the film’s release in November of 2021, it has gained mass amounts of attention. The short film was nominated for Best Editing, Video, Direction, Longform Video and Cinematography at the 2022 VMAs, and won Best Video, Direction and Longform Video (MTV). Not only did she win three out of the five awards she was nominated for, but she also set a new record for the VMAs, by becoming the first person to win Video of the Year three times (MTV).

After thanking her dedicated fans in her acceptance speech for the Video of the Year award she received, Swift ended off the speech by sharing the news about an upcoming album, Midnights, which is set to be released on October 21, 2022.

Later that night, the singer posted an Instagram post with more information about the album, to which she explained the songs in the album being “stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout [her] life” Taylor Swift [@taylorswift].
