Book Recommendations Based of your Favorite Disney Princess

Avery Cook, Staff Writer

Disney princess movies have been staples in numerous childhoods for years. These stories that we have been raised on have followed us as we grow up, affecting how we live. Everybody has a favorite Disney princess, and I believe this to be very telling of somebody as a person. These are book recommendations based on your favorite Disney princess.

Belle – If your favorite Disney princess is Belle, you have exquisite taste. You require knowledge as a form of escape from the life that you believe yourself to be trapped in. You are strong-willed, but never at the expense of those around you. You are independent but will still prioritize your family and close friends when it is necessary. You were probably raised on the Harry Potter books and cannot stand people who have only seen the movies. You have the perfect blend of creativity and sensibility. To the Belle fans, I would recommend Frenchman’s Creek by Daphne du Maurier.

Rapunzel – If your favorite Disney princess is Rapunzel, you are a genuine person. You try to be optimistic and outgoing, but always feel like there is something in your way. You never fail to get through challenges and hardships. You do this by being your kind and likable self. I would recommend that every Rapunzel fan reads Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carrol.

Ariel – If your favorite Disney princess is Ariel, you have an extreme sense of curiosity. You are an avid maladaptive daydreamer and a hopeless romantic. You form unhealthy attachments to people as a result of putting off your issues. You are a fun person to be with and a loyal friend to those you care about. To the Ariel fans, I would suggest reading I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter by Erika L. Sánchez.

Tiana – The Tiana fans are people with true perspectives and values. You are a realist in the best way possible. Sometimes you struggle to make mistakes because of the standards that you hold yourself to. Once you can see past your pride you will be able to have a new world of possibilities in front of you. A classic is perfect for Tiana fans, and I would suggest Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.

Moana – Moana is an excellent choice for your favorite Disney princess. Moana’s ambition is something that her fans can relate to. You don’t let the world around you influence your life. You know that you are your own person with hopes and dreams. You are supportive and outgoing, allowing you to attract friends very naturally. You need a book to delve into the human experience, to you I would recommend Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens.

Cinderella – The people whose favorite Disney princess is Cinderella are the people who cannot let go of their childhood. You see past Cinderella’s lack of character depth because the movie makes you nostalgic. You are the type of person that never knows when to let go and admit that you were wrong. That being said, you never have ill intentions. A childhood classic is only fit for a Cinderella fan, so I would recommend The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett.

Pocahontas – Pocahontas is an excellent choice for your favorite Disney princess if you are 10 years old. Not only is this movie offensive, but it is completely inaccurate. Your heart isn’t in the wrong place, you just need a little help. You can be naive, but you always try to do the right thing. To you, I would recommend 5 Steps to a 5: AP U.S. History 2022 by Daniel P. Murphey.

Mulan – If your favorite Disney princess is Mulan, you are one of the best kinds of people. You don’t crack under pressure allowing you to be a natural leader. You have a great view of the world and can see past what you’ve been told in the past. You are a fierce friend and always put the good of those you care about before yourself. You aren’t afraid to fight against what you believe to be wrong, even if it’s you against the world. I would recommend that you read The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood.

Snow White – If your favorite Disney princess is the first Disney princess, Snow White, you are like the Cinderella fans. You picked Snow White when you were a child and haven’t been able to move on. You are a kind and compassionate person, but you don’t scare easily. You are very pure, but sometimes that makes you oblivious to what is going on around you. I would recommend that if you are a Snow White fan, you read The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum.

Merida – I have one question for the Merida lovers; why? This movie was not good, and Merida was not a well-written character. You want to live up to a certain ideal that you’ve created for yourself, but Merida is not the way to do it. You let your ambition go too far that it can often have negative consequences on your life. You have the potential to grow if given the chance. To you, I would recommend the 1818 classic, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley.

Jasmine – People who love Jasmine are people that love to rule their own life. You are on a constant journey of self-discovery. You have excellent taste in every portion of art and your opinions are never influenced by others. You show great compassion to those who deserve it but are not afraid to stand up to the people that belittle you. If your favorite Disney princess is Jasmine, you need to read Little Women by Louisa May Alcott.

Aurora – If your favorite Disney princess is Aurora, you have a taste for classics. Sleeping Beauty was a great movie, setting it apart from the also classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Cinderella. You are a soft-spoken person that always dreamed of being a princess. Your wardrobe consists mostly of the color pink and you tend to over-dress for every occasion. You also probably also own a Dyson Airwrap. You deserve to read a timeless book, and I would suggest Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston.
