Dak Prescott Out for the Season with Ankle Injury

Reno Misuraca, Sports Writer

This NFL season has been one of the worst ever in terms of injuries. But the one that hurts the most is Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott’s terrible ankle injury. A compound right ankle fracture is what will keep Prescott out for the rest of the season.

The Cowboys have not been living up to pre-season expectations but Dak has been the best player on their team this season. Dak was leading the NFL in Pass yards to begin week five and threw for 166 more yards before his 3rd quarter injury.

Now this leads to the question, “What’s next for the Cowboys?” Backup quarterback Andy Dalton is now at the head of the team which could be great for the Cowboys. Arguably the best backup quarterback in the league, he is very capable of winning games with this team. After the heartbreaking injury, Dalton led his team to finish out the game vs the New York Giants with a touchdown drive ending with an Ezekiel Elliot Rushing touchdown, and two late game field goals, including a 34 yard attempt by Greg Zuerlein as time expired to win the game.

Dak Presscott is currently signed under the franchise tag and won’t be under a contract next year. Could this injury affect his later deals in the NFL or will it just motivate him to get healthy quicker and get back on the field as soon as possible? Knowing Dak, he wants to play and will do anything to do it.
