This Friday, November 18th, at 7:30, the Olentangy Liberty Patriots (12-0) face off against the Lorain Titans (10-2) at Madison STARTEK Stadium in Mansfield. The Patriots are coming off of a 45-27 victory against Medina, while Lorain beat Dublin Jerome 30-14. Patriots senior defensive back Will Fowler said, “Our whole team is confident. “ When asked about the upcoming game, he stated, “The coaches are putting us in a great position to win.”

The Patriots have played great football this season, winning big games against North Allegheny, Cleveland Glenville, Westerville South, Pickerington North, and an impressive 31-0 victory against district rival Olentangy. A large part of their success has been from senior multi-positional Brendon White, who has signed with Ohio State to continue his football career. “He’s probably our best player,” Fowler added, “he scores touchdowns and he’s also just a leader.” White has shown his athletic ability by playing multiple positions this season, such as: quarterback, running back, wide receiver, safety, and cornerback. The Patriots, under White’s leadership, will look to make it 13 straight victories with a win against Lorain.

As for Lorain, they did not start off with the same success as Liberty, losing their first 2 games to Midview and Elyria. Since then, the Titans have bounced back winning 10 straight lead by running back and safety, Carlos Chavis. Lorain’s 10 straight wins include wins vs Sandusky, Bedford, and most recently, a win in the second round of the playoffs against Dublin Jerome.

Whoever wins, moves onto the State Semi-Finals against the winner of St. Ignatius (11-1) and St. Edward’s (9-2). Whoever advances after that game, will be playing in the Division I State Championship at Ohio Stadium. “It would be unreal,” Fowler added when asked about possibly playing his final game at Ohio State, “that’s been a dream of mine since I was a kid.”
