Kristi Lamborn is a branch associate who loves her job. She used to work in a different state. “I love books, which … then this job has a lot of customer service. It’s a lot of helping people, and I really like being able to help people.” Lamborn said.Molly Saunders is a library patron who goes to the Powell branch because of its proximity to her house. Saunders has only ever gone to this branch. “It’s close to my house and I can just ride my bike whenever I want.” Saunders said.Saunders loves to read books, fantasy being her favorite genre. She has always loved reading fantasy. “I always find the genre I’m looking for at this branch,” Saunders said.Since December, Lamborn has been working at the Powell branch. Lamborn has worked in several other libraries before working in this one. “I worked in the district a little longer and then I worked at another library in a different state prior to that.” Lamborn said. The Powell branch has a unique history. The Powell branch of the Delaware County District Library opened in 1890, and it grew from a women’s reading club. “I think it’s very cool that the library started out as a women’s reading club,” Saunders said. Many years later the library was officially open. The Powell branch opened to the public in 1993. “I’m so glad that a cute little library like this was opened in my town.” Saunders said.
